Presented in 35mm!
When an unknown force on the ocean floor wrecks a nuclear submarine, a salvage crew led by the hard-nosed Bud Brigman (Ed Harris) and his estranged wife Lindsey (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio) team up with a squad of Navy SEALs (anchored by Cameron regular Michael Biehn) to investigate. As the mission continues, the crew encounters strange glowing beings with mysterious powers that have their own intentions for the sub’s nuclear payload.
Following the success of genre masterworks THE TERMINATOR and ALIENS, James Cameron was given carte blanche to pursue his technical ambitions to their breaking point. The majority of the film's scenes were shot underwater, leading to reports of the physical and emotional breakdown of the cast and crew throughout filming — can you imagine conditions that would make Ed Harris cry?
Join us for a special 35mm presentation of Cameron’s aquatic epic, where its rich and cerebral adventure story, groundbreaking special effects, and compelling performances stand at the height of his directorial output. And who can forget that poor rat? Was the rat okay? Someone, please think of that poor rat!
