Spring is a time for renewal and rebirth. Our prairie environment begins to come to life around us – urging us to pay attention. Using Ayurvedic and traditional Chinese medicine principles, we can take advantage of this transition time to harmonize our body with the rhythm of spring – through a focused seasonal cleanse, with special attention paid to our liver and gall bladder. In many cultures, spring is traditionally the time for a liver cleanse, which helps the digestive system transition from the heavier and denser foods of winter. The process of cleansing helps us to work with our body’s natural resources, and to align our food selection and preparation with local seasonal foods. We may also experience the birth of new ideas, release of anger and frustration, and a reconnection with our soul and our creativity.
