Shelterbelt Theatre will hold auditions for «Three To Beam Up» by Don Nguyen, Monday, February 12 and Tuesday, February 13 at 7pm at the theatre, 3225 California St. Auditions will consist of cold reading from the script. The show runs April 20 — May 13, 2018. The play is directed by Shelterbelt Executive Director, Roxanne Wach. In the spirit of diversity found in the Star Trek universe, all are encouraged to audition. 4 male roles are available, age ranges 20s to 40s. 3 female roles are available, age ranges 20s to 40s.

This is a new script. A read-through will be scheduled in late Feb. Rehearsals will begin early March, with time off for Easter. Some workshopping will happen prior to and during the rehearsal period and early casting facilitates this process.
SYNOPSIS: Sam Wisher returns home to Riverside, IA at the urgent request of his sister Jules. There, he discovers Jules and their father, John, have built a holodeck. John has locked himself inside the holodeck for nearly 2 weeks, playing out a fantasy of being a starship captain investigating a distress signal in the Gamma Quadrant. Jules and Sam must rescue their father before they lose him forever. Three To Beam Up is the story of a man who believes he is the captain of a Federation starship and the children that fight to keep their father’s feet firmly planted on Earth.
