Are you ready for the goriest, most splatterific Hong Kong exploitation movie ever made? Based on a violent Japanese manga, STORY OF RICKY stars musclebound actor Fan Siu-wong (later featured in the IP MAN films) as a young man with superhuman strength who is unjustly sentenced to a privatized prison, where a ruthless warden oversees violent gangs that control the four cell blocks. After he witnesses one group of goons brutalize an older inmate, Ricky decides he can’t take it anymore and sets out to put an end to the violence….with even bigger violence!
Rivaling even Peter Jackson’s DEAD ALIVE in the amount of gore onscreen, STORY OF RICKY is a nonstop cavalcade of over-the-top mayhem, literally awash in human entrails. Heads are exploded, eyeballs pulled out, torsos impaled, and one villain even decides to use his own intestines to strangle Ricky when all other methods fail. Co-starring powerhouse Japanese fighter Yukari Oshima (cross-dressing as a male character!), legendary Hong Kong baddie Ho Ka-kui, and featuring a cameo by Tetsuro Tanba (YOU ONLY LIVE TWICE) as Ricky’s mentor, STORY OF RICKY is a hilarious and jaw-dropping tornado of grue which, thankfully, never knows when enough is enough.
Note: this screening will be of the English-dubbed export edition, which adds another level of insanity to the film.
