This multidisciplinary exhibition is the culmination of the 2017 Fellows’ 11-month residency, featuring participatory community-based textiles by “Quilterpreneur” Celeste Butler, fashion design by Samone Davis, intersections of text and visual art by Slowed Soul (Noah Sterba + Jeff Sedrel), recorded and live musical performance by Edem Kegey, and light-based installation by Jamie Danielle Hardy.
Join us for additional events featuring the work of our Fellows, including Sharing Space with Edem Soul Music, a musical performance by Edem Kegey on November 4th at 7pm, and My Fire: Community Quilting with Celeste Butler on Tuesdays November 7 and 14 at 7pm.
This exhibition is curated by Jennifer Baker, Assistant Curator at H&R Block Art Space at the Kansas City Art Institute.
The exhibition runs November 3 through December 16, 2017, with an opening reception Friday, November 3, 6–9PM. Admission to The Union’s Wanda D. Ewing Gallery is free and open to the public 11AM to 6PM Tuesday through Saturday at 2423 North 24th Street.
